SCHEMATICRAFT

Open an old MCEdit .schematic in a new release

Upload your old MCEdit .schematic and convert it to a modern WorldEdit .schem, and it loads in a current WorldEdit.

The conversion runs on our servers and maps the legacy block IDs up to their modern named blocks; it does not need MCEdit or WorldEdit on your machine.

It's free, there's no account, and we don't store your file.

Steps

  1. Open the converter.Go to the converter and drop your old .schematic file.
  2. Pick WorldEdit and your version.Choose WorldEdit (.schem) as the target and set the Minecraft version you are building in.
  3. Convert and load.Download the .schem and load it with WorldEdit in your world.

What carries over, and what does not

Kept

  • Every block, mapped from its legacy ID
  • Chests, signs and other block entities
  • Mobs, item frames and armor stands

How a legacy .schematic is read

An old .schematic from MCEdit, WorldEdit 6 or Schematica is a 1.12.2 and older file, where blocks are stored as numeric IDs, not the named block states a modern release uses. We read it as the 1.12.2 world and map each legacy ID up to its modern block.

Every block that existed in 1.12 maps up to its modern name. A block added after 1.12 has no legacy ID, so it was never in the old file and nothing is lost by its absence.

Common questions

Will my old blocks still be the right blocks?
Yes. Each legacy block ID is mapped up to the modern named block it became, so the build looks the same in a current release.
Do I need MCEdit or WorldEdit installed to convert?
No. The conversion runs on our servers. You only need WorldEdit in-game to load the result.
